MEDecision, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative health care management solutions, has entered into an agreement with InSite One, Inc., the industry's leading medical provider of enterprise archiving and disaster recovery managed services, for the cross-licensing and reselling of technology, services and intellectual property. The deal sets the stage for cross-enterprise patient information sharing nationwide, including Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) XDS compliance for over 2.7 billion medical images InSite One hosts, and the long-term management of imaging and non-imaging data (see also MEDecision).
MEDecision will leverage the partnership with InSite One to include InDex image archiving and business continuity services in its offerings to providers and health plans. In addition, the agreement provides InSite One with the tools and services necessary for its InDex services to be fully compliant with IHE standards for cross-enterprise health information exchange (HIE). Based on technology developed by HxTechnologies Inc. (HxTI), which was acquired by MEDecision earlier this year, InDex will offer and support the complete range of XDS, XDS-I, PIX/PDQ and ATNA components as a hosted solution for sharing clinical data, both imaging and textual, within the first national HIE-capable archive solution. InSite One will also maintain a license to key patents MEDecision now holds in the HIE space.
'The market for health information exchange has entered an important phase of growth and maturation, particularly around medical imaging,' said Elliot Menschik, M.D. Ph.D., the founder of HxTechnologies and leader of MEDecision's EHR/HIE solutions. 'We are delighted to announce an alignment of organizations that enables our customers to reap the benefits of unparalleled scale, interoperability and capability for sharing of diagnostic imaging and other clinical results.'
'This has been a vision of the two organizations for some time as we have jointly prepared to address specific enterprise requests for our joint services,' commented Jim Champagne, president and CEO of InSite One. 'Our software as a service model offers the industry the benefits of technology management with cost-effective care in an area that is rapidly changing, creating operational and budgetary challenges to most organizations,' he concluded.
